Suicide Rates Increase In Spring and Fall

Many people think suicide rates increase during the winter holidays. This still happens, however, CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics reports that the suicide rate is, in fact, the lowest in December. The rate peaks in the spring and the fall. While there are varying factors for why this happens, what we need to focus on is keeping in contact with our loved ones and those around us. If someone is acting in an unusal manner, check in with them. See if there is something going on that you might be able to help with. A lot of times people struggle with self love or self help and they just need someone to show they care.

If you are feeling depressed yourself, start making note of what's going on emotionally. Write down how you feel that day and what is causing your mood to change up or down. Keep track of changes in feelings and thought patterns. Perhaps you're lashing out at people more or feeling unusually overwhelmed and you can't figure out why. If these things continue to happen, talk to a friend or specialist. There may be an underlying issue that you can work out easily or that might need more support. There is always a way to fix it, you're not alone.

Mental health is an important and crucial element to your well-being that sometimes gets overlooked. We are often taught how to take care of our bodies but what about our minds? This is what controls all of the functions in our bodies, tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and releases all the hormones that keep us happy, motivated, and operating in a healthy way.

If your body is able to get out of bed physically but your mind is causing you stress, anxiety, and lack of motivation, what health are you really in? Mental illness can be much more than what we normally consider big diagnoses such as ADHD or Bipolar. It can be as simple as social anxiety or as common as depression and hoarding. According to mentalhealthamerica.net, 1 in 5 adults have a mental health condition. The good news is the stigma associated with mental illness is decreasing and the resources surrouding it are increasing! If you or someone you kow would like to find some resources, check out:

April 28th Is National Pay It Forward Day

Paying it forward is that idea that when someone does someting nice for you, you turn around and do something nice for someone else. Maybe someone offered you the parking space they were waiting on or helped you carry some heavy groceries. Your goal is to now help someone else out in return.

Ideas To Pay It Forward

  • Pay for someone's coffee or food behind you in line
  • Donate to a local charity
  • Help someone you see struggling
  • Listen to someone who needs it
  • Do someone a favor
  • Compliment a stranger
  • Check up on someone who looks lonely
  • Take a veteran or law enforecement officer out to lunch

We have 7.8 billion people in the world, that's a lot of chances to spread some kindness and Pay It Forward!

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

At Bio-One, we love being able to help people during difficult times. Unfortunately, we see the aftermath of a lot of terrible situations. For us, this business is all about helping people and making something hard a little bit easier in the way we know how.

This week, April 8-14th is National Crime Victim's Rights Week. We want to show our support for crime victims and all those affected. If you know anyone who is a crime victim, take them out to lunch, ask them about their story, or do something helpful to pass on kindness.

At Bio-One, we see first hand that clutter and hoarding can overtake someone's life. It may not happen quickly but over time, it starts to affect those living in that environment and everyone around them. The third week of march starts Clutter Awareness Week.

If you or someone you know is showing signs of clutter accumulation, now is the perfect time to sit down and talk about it. This may be a difficult subject as objects can become personal and emotional as we attach our memories to them. According to the American Psychiatric Association, "The worst thing to do is to volunteer to go in and throw things away for them or to go in and throw things away when they are not around." Upsetting your loved one will only make things worse. Having a conversation and letting them know professionals can help work with them is the safest and easiest way to declutter a home.

Bio-One is here to help. We have franchises throughout the United States that are qualified and eager to help. Take a look at our locations page to find a Bio-One Franchise near you.
